Jeff is an integral member of the Cole Gavlas team. Since 1991, he has served as the firm’s President. His clients consist primarily of entrepreneurs. Jeff provides them with business and tax planning, with the goal of helping them achieve sustainable growth. Prior to beginning his tenure with Cole Gavlas, Jeff spent 10 years with Plante & Moran. He describes himself as “blessed” to have initially worked with this firm, as the partners shared their faith with their team and were very encouraging.
A fantastic advocate for his clients and his colleagues alike, one of Jeff’s greatest strengths lies in problem solving. He operates from the belief that serving his clients’ needs should be first and foremost in his mind. A CPA since 1983, Jeff chose to pursue a career in the accounting field because he always enjoyed working with numbers. He attributes his success to his practice of offering services beyond simple compliance—to acting as an advisor to his clients.
Raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jeff now lives in Portage. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Cathy. Together they have two children and two grandchildren. Jeff likes living in the Midwest because of its strong Christian values—he considers it a great place to raise a family. Outside of the office, Jeff’s hobbies include golf, racquetball, and travelling to warmer locales.
